Meet Judge Chung
Judge Chung was born in Seoul, Korea, and moved to the US with his family when he was 12 years old. At the time, he did not speak any English. He worked very hard and attended Columbia University earning his BA in American History in 1985. He then received a full tuition scholarship and graduated from the George Washington University Law School.
After law school, he moved to Seattle and worked at a law firm focusing on commercial litigation. After several years, he worked at another large law firm, where he became the first person of color to become a partner in the firm’s near 100 year history. While as a private attorney, in 1992 he started a free legal clinic for the indigent and the elderly immigrants at a community center, that still operates today. He also represented many other less fortunate members of our community on a pro bono or reduced fee basis.
Judge Chung is a frequent speaker to youths and students about career guidance and life choices.
